Never back down on your God given Vision. Part 1
Posses A Winning Attitude:
Phil 3:8-14: 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ-the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. 10 I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Beloved we need to understand that the same victorious life that was enjoyed by the Apostle Paul is available to every believer. It really is possible for Christians like you and I to become mighty in spirit and experience the same triumphant lifestyle the Apostle Paul experienced. In this passage of scripture we will discover some of the secrets of Paul's spiritual power. I think the secret of Paul's victorious life was a 'winning attitude.' He was a high achiever. The word retreat was not in his vocabulary.
There is a scripture that I read when reading through a book that really blessed me so much. So when I was re-visiting this message, I was reminded of this passage in Joshua 8:26 that says.., 'For Joshua did not draw back the hand that held out his javelin until he had destroyed all who lived in Ai.' WOW! It dawned on me that the hand that held Joshua's Javelin was an unseen hand.., not a natural human strength, hence the reason he was neither weary nor tired. Joshua was a man with great vision and passion.., he's constantly led by God and will never back down on God's words. He kept at the battle in God's strength until he experienced Victory.
Apostle Paul had developed the heart of an overcoming champion. In the verses we have just read, the Apostle Paul reveals his driving determination to win.
The first thing we need to have to have the same winning attitude that never backs down on God given vision is to posses a winning and not a defeatist attitude. We are to develop a God centred dissatisfaction that challenges us to align our present condition to our God given vision. If where you are right now is not where God wants you to be, then in your dissatisfaction, you should consult God for direction and press on to His highest calling upon you.
I shall continue from next week showing us how Paul expressed his dissatisfaction with his walk and growth. Please Log-in to leave a comment. |
