Obedient Faith Part 3

Grace to you, last week I started by pointing out the three things that I want us to learn about obedient faith namely

  • OBEDIENT FAITH IS COMMITTED TO THE CALL OF GOD.
  • OBEDIENT FAITH CLINGS TO THE PROMISES OF GOD.
  • OBEDIENT FAITH IS CONFIDENT OF THE CITY OF GOD.

This week we shall be looking at the second aspect that will help us to cling more to every spoken words of God. It is unfortunate today that many Christians are not patient enough.., hence dabble into many things that takes them years to come out from. If the Lord had spoken it.., yours is to believe and confess it until you see the full manifestation of the words. But if you don't believe in it, then you can't confess it.., and if you are not confessing it, obviously you cannot see it.

II. OBEDIENT FAITH CLINGS TO THE PROMISES OF GOD.

This second part shows the determination of every believer's Faith. Hebrews 11:9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

Gen. 12:6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. 7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. 8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he built an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.

There are times in our lives that the promises of God seem to be beyond our reach and we give up on them. We must tighten our grip on the promises of God and cling to them with all of our strength. We are just pilgrims and strangers in this land. This world is not my home.

Looking at the underlined words, Sichem = strength or shoulder; Moreh = instructions; Canaanite = enemy, conflict. This basically means that when we move as instructed by God, we will pass through a place of strength, and we must regularly wait for God's instructions in order to overcome our oppositions and adversaries.

Unfortunately over the years I have seen many Christians spend majority of their lives between Bethel (The house of God ) and Hai ( ruins ). The bible tells us that Abraham built an alter which symbolises continual fellowship with God. To keep your faith, you need to camp around God's word.., mixing the word you have heard with faith so that you can enter into God's rest. (Hebrews 4)

Shalom
